PROPOSED property development projects involving public land in Kuala Lumpur have been frozen indefinitely and will be put under review, says Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai.
This was an instruction given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) during a meeting with Kuala Lumpur MPs and DBKL on Dec 22, last year.
The idea is to review the plot ratio, land usage and density of these projects to prevent over-development in Kuala Lumpur. This applies to proposed development projects that have not received the development order on government-owned land.

Tan added that for example, a school-reserved land in Taman Segar, Cheras that was sold to a private developer to build a high-rise project could proceed. It will not be subject to review as the private developer has paid for the land. It's a done deal.
