Parker 'shell-shocked' after Bournemouth thrashed 9-0 by Liverpool

Scott Parker, manager of Bournemouth, said he was "shell-shocked" by his team's record-breaking loss in the Premier League. Liverpool beat them 9 to 0 at Anfield on Saturday.

Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz each scored two goals, while other Liverpool players contributed to Bournemouth's third consecutive league loss this season.

Bournemouth have conceded 16 goals in their four Premier League games, more than any other team in the competition's history. It is an humbling experience, it goes without saying. Parker, whose team is back in the top flight after a two-year absence, said that he was "pretty shell-shocked".

"I'm not surprised, given the level of achievement here is much higher than we have. I'm not trying to make excuses, some of these goals were our fault. I feel sorry for the fans. I feel sorry for the players, as we are not equipped at this level."

Parker stated that Liverpool were "ruthless" while Bournemouth players were sometimes left "searching to oxygen". This is the hardest day for me as a coach and as a player. It was very painful today, and I could feel it was for the players. They need help. Bournemouth, currently 16th in the table is next up in the league, hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.
