New era beckons for Lionesses after momentous Euro glory

England was the focus of all eyes as the Lionesses won the Women's European Championship with a 2-1 victory over Germany in Sunday's (Jul 31,) final at Wembley Stadium.

A record crowd of 87,192 people went wild when substitute Chloe Kelly scored extra time to secure England's victory. This was the first major trophy for the Lionesses. They roared throughout.

This win was a landmark day for English football. It comes 56 years since England's men beat West Germany at the 1966 World Cup final. It is the only major trophy that an England senior team has ever won.

It was also a reminder of the tremendous progress made in women's sport in the country. In 1921, the Football Association (FA), had banned women from playing football for almost 50 years, and also get free bonus.

After twice falling at the final hurdle, it was third time lucky for England, as the class 2022's memorable run through the tournament lifted spirits across the country.

The Championships and the performance in them have rightly earned praise, Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain wrote to the Lionesses. However, your success extends far beyond the trophy that you so deservedly won.

You have set an example that will inspire girls and women of today and the future generations.

Sarina Wiegman's teams have been unstoppable. They scored a record 22 goals during the tournament, including a 4-0 demolition of Sweden in the semi-finals.

Williamson expressed her hope that the tournament would be transformative for women's sport and gender equality in general prior to the final.

She spoke out about the team's impact on society after they won the trophy.

Alex Scott, a former England and Arsenal defender, described Sunday's win in England as "the moment" for women’s football. She said that it was a true dream come true.

So many people have been involved in getting women's soccer to this point, and to see this trophy. This is what we've been dreaming about, Scott, a member the 2009 line-up that finished second to Germany in her role as a BBC pundit, stated.

This moment reminds of the 1999 Women's World Cup, when USA won it. It changed the face and future of American soccer forever.

I feel that this is a moment for England. This is the moment.
