Magnificent Messi inspires PSG to 5-0 win over Clermont

Paris St Germain opened the defense of their Ligue 1 title on Saturday with a sensational goal by Lionel Messi. They beat Clermont at Stade Gabriel Montpied by 5-0.

As they continued their 4-0 Trophee Des Champions win over Nantes, Messi scored a brace.

They were in front after nine minutes. Messi brilliantly flicked a ball into the path Neymar's, who completed an excellent move.

Hakimi scored midway through half-time from a lightening counter attack, before Marquinhos smashed Neymar's free-kick into goal.

The fourth goal was scored by Neymar, who then assisted Messi with a fourth. Finally, the Argentine forward completed an outstanding performance with a spectacular goal. He caught a pass from Leandro Paraedes and provided a bicycle-kick ending.

After Racing Strasbourg had lost 2-1 to Monaco, the home team had a last-gasp equalizer that was ruled out by VAR.

Monaco, who are away in the Champions League preliminary rounds against PSV Eindhoven, were up 2-0 through Krepin Diatta, Sofiane Diop, before Habib Diallo pulled one back at the 65 minute mark.

Diallo thought he was going to score another goal, but he was stopped by Alexander Djiku, his teammate, and he made the assist. Monaco won.
