Lille responds to PSG hammering with 3-1 win at Ajaccio

Corsica -- Lille reacted to the Paris Saint-Germain defeat by beating Ajaccio 3-1 in French league on Friday. Lille was beaten 7-1 by PSG, the defending champion, last weekend. Cyrille Bayala, however, provided a late consolation for Ajaccio.

Turkey's Yusuf Yazici, a midfielder from Turkey, opened the scoring in the 17th with a brilliant volley. Ajaccio's defense couldn’t clear a cross. Yazici stopped Yazici's left boot from stopping the ball and lifted it above his head before turning to fire it in from just outside of the penalty area.

Brazilian defender Ismaily set up Jonathan Bamba's second goal for the visitors shortly before the break. Tiago Djalo effectively ended the home team's hopes of scoring with Lille's third goal in the 67th.

Bayala encouraged a late flurry by the home team when, after Lille missed several opportunities to clear the danger after a corner, he scored in 84th. Canada forward Jonathan David missed the opportunity to score his third goal of this season for Lille, when he hit the post with a penalty at the 90th. Lille, the champion in 2021, had already won its second win of season and left Ajaccio with one point from four games
